China, 2nd half of 19th ct.
L.149 cm, B. 224 cm
Blue silk gauze embroidered with colored silk in counted stitches and gold threads in piecing technique. Black silk gauze sleeve interfacing, black silk edging with woven gold design. Five brass ball buttons. Nine dragons (one on the underflap) in round stylized clouds with red bats and treasures. More treasures float in the waves. Deep water with diagonal lines occupies one third of the length of the robe.
Addtional: White linen shirt, Europe, early 20th ct., two pairs of tabi, Japan, early 20th ct., a pair of socks, knitted.
